Minnehaha’s Modest-Sized Kitchen

  • <p>The clients were involved in the neighborhood organization dedicated to keeping the housing instead of tearing down. They wanted to utilize every inch of storage which resulted in floor-to-ceiling cabinetry. Cabinetry and counter space work together to create a balance between function and style.</p>
  • <p>Using an induction stovetop keeps the eye going along the granite countertop edge instead of getting broken up by a range. A new window and additional light fixtures also help to keep the kitchen bright.</p>
  • <p>The extreme contrast of the almost black cabinetry and floor vs. the light and bright walls and shelves gives this kitchen a bright, clean, and crisp appeal. The floor is Marmoleum which is a nod to the linoleum that would have been used originally.</p>
  • <p>The clients found a vintage wall mounted sink and medicine cabinet to help embody the history of their home. Along the same lines, the original marble hex tile floor and bathtub were refinished instead of replaced. A window was added in the shower to make the space seem bigger and brighter.</p>
