A Fresh Take on Tudor

  • <p>This attractive Tudor has enjoyed its scenic location since 1930. After 80 years, modern-day elegance and conveniences were welcomed with an addition created in perfect harmony with the existing style. TreHus removed a structurally unsound addition and built a new addition which contains an expanded kitchen and dinette.  A door leads from the kitchen to a spacious new deck, with a garage below.</p>
  • <p>Built in 1930, this classic Tudor home looks fresh and clean after its recent renovation. The kitchen includes custom cabinetry, a beamed ceiling, a coffee station, built-in cookbook storage and a message center. Large windows and an eating area add to the light, welcoming feeling of the space. The remodel of this home took place in two phases. During phase II, the beams in the kitchen were painted to look like the stained alder woodwork present throughout the house.</p>
  • <p>This dinette gives the owners an informal space to eat in their kitchen.  Light streams in though the windows and a door leads out to the new deck.</p>
  • <p>Here’s a look at the coffee station and connection to the dining room.  The coffee station offers a place for the owners to prepare their beverages and store accessories within easy reach of the dinette and the rest of the kitchen.</p>
  • <p>This space was used as an office before the remodel, but it felt a little cramped. TreHus removed the walls on two sides of the room, opening it to the stairway and hall. The room bigger because it gained the space occupied by the walls, but more importantly, it feels bigger and more open. A long, dark-stained alder desk and bookshelves provide work room for two.</p>
  • <p>The new guest bathroom includes a custom vanity with a carrera marble top, subway tile, and a heated floor.</p>

  • <p>The exterior wall of the master bathroom was moved out 16″, making it a more comfortable size. Letoon wainscoting and a carrara marble basket weave pattern on the floor give this bath a rich aesthetic.</p>

  • <p>Prior to the remodel, the attic space was used as storage. Old carpet was torn up, revealing hardwood floors, new millwork was installed, and walls and ceilings were repaired and refreshed. Now it is a beautiful and welcoming guest bedroom.</p>
  • <p>This little wine nook used to be a storage closet. Opening up the entryway connected it to the rest of the newly remodeled basement, then it was just a matter of adding lighting, tile, millwork and shelves for wine storage. It has a 140 bottle capacity, plus a shelf for tasting and storage for books, beer or extra cases of wine.</p>
  • <p>Prior to being remodeled, this basement was used as storage. TreHus refinished the hardwood floors and added built-in alder cabinets, a new entertainment area, improved lighting and in-ceiling speakers.</p>
