Minneapolis Fire Restoration

  • <p>After a tragic fire last year, this old federal style house from 1914 needed to be rebuilt from the studs. The goal was to connect the old with the new and replace what the owners had once loved about the original house. The inspiration for the new colors, windows, trim and doors was copied from burnt materials and old photographs. While restoration was already underway, the owners decided to add an addition, deck, finished attic, master bath and other projects. New windows increased natural light and were reoriented for a better view of the backyard. A classically detailed island with and walnut butcher block top along with paneled appliances, a large refrigerator, and copper lighting.   • <p>The dining room fireplace was rebuilt and refaced with pinched oval handmade tile.   • <p>A traditional style living room was added off the kitchen in the new addition. A built-in bench, cubbies and coat hooks created an organized entry for the busy family.   • <p>The living room fireplace was redesigned after a  previous, poorly done, renovation.   • <p>A master suite was added during the restoration.
