Dan grew up in a small town in southern Minnesota. While working on a small farm, he realized that he loved working with his hands – and that he was good at it. This led him to carpentry, where he began working for a roofing and siding company, becoming well-versed in roofing, siding, windows, and doors. As a craftsman, Dan is passionate about the responsibility of this career in honoring the trees they use with their gifts and talents. Once carpenters do their very best in fabricating something and maximizing materials to have as little waste as possible, they have honored that tree by getting it as close to perfect as it will ever be since cutting it.
After many years of carpentry, Dan eventually became the co-owner of a homebuilding company and then a handyman business. Shortly after moving to the Twin Cities, Dan came across Trehus who caught his attention due to their values or 25 Principles to Work By. With a knack for process, organization, and communication, Dan believed he would be a good fit for the team. During his 9 years at TreHus, Dan has worked primarily in the Specialty + Small Jobs division as a project manager, carpenter, and sales representative.
Outside of work, Dan loves to spend time in his wood shop at home whittling and carving from scrap pieces of wood that usually would be thrown away to make furniture and toys. On the weekends, you can find him at church, volunteering with the homeless, camping, hiking, cooking with his wife, or watching a movie with their cats.
